Daily Cleanser: As the Winter wanes…give your kidneys one final boost!

Although we have just over one week left of winter before we charge into spring, do your kidneys (and bladder)  a favor and continue feeding them.  According to Chinese Medicine, the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder energize during the winter.  They’ve been working hard this season to energize, and with Mars retrograde for so long during the heart of the winter, they’ve been working overtime, and may have been hampered by this.

This is the week to be conscious about your kidney health, and a great time to reinforce some kidney supports, and exact some sort of last minute preparations for your body because once we leap into spring,  the liver and gallbladder will take center stage and there’s no going back! Layer kidney friendly oils upon them – such as Juniper, Rosemary, Geranium, and Valor, you can apply them neat or with warm compresses.  If you notice that you have signs of excessive perspiration or sweating, this is a sign of kidney stress. So increase your water intake, and bulk up on the K&B  tincture. Taking  Rehemogen will assist this process by supporting the bone marrow quality, which is part of the kidney network, believe it or not.

Because the kidneys help maintain our body’s pH, it’s alkaline balance, they need a lot minerals. Your body leeches minerals such as calcium from your bones, in order to counteract the acidity that is brought on by consuming too much sugar – such as soda pop, processed food, and high fructose corn syrup.  When the body is in a diseased state, it really starts using minerals, and they are essential for enzymatic actions will also keep you alive and well.  On the whole, kidneys need a lot of minerals, so go ahead and take those 5 dropper-fulls of Mineral Essence three times a day! Feeding your kidneys green supplements such as Multi-Greens, will not only help feed your kidneys, but also help with bone formation and thus help prevent kidney stones.

Drinking fresh green juices are incredibly hydrating for the kidneys, and good sources of your B vitamins apparently decreases your risk for kidney stones, Hands down, Super B is the greatest B complex vitamin supplement I have ever used.   Spring water is the best water to be drinking, in my opinion as it’s vibration and energy are purer as their springs and aquifers are nurtured  by, and hum with earth’s natural energy.

By all means, drop the sugar and processed food (forever) but especially this week as we head into Spring. Spring is depending upon the health and vitality of the kidneys in order to spur a season of growth, in my eyes, our breadth and depth of physical growth and achievement is directly proportional to the depth and vitality of our kidneys.

Bless the renewed courage you discovered within yourself this winter, for that is the gift of our kidneys – courage.

Happy Cleansing!

Mars Gone Retrograde in Leo. Thoughts on Health and Brittany Murphy.

And so Mars takes a rest. I could feel this planet of action and power losing speed and power as of late, perhaps some of you noticed it as well since I’ve been off-line for a bit.

Mars has been zooming along in Leo since October, and is staying in Leo for 8 months! This is unheard of! Usually Mars only stays in a sign for 6-8 weeks and then he’s off to another sign to invigorate and energize.  Not this time, Mars is in Leo for 8 months, and is retrograding for about 3 of them…starting yesterday. This month, I could feel this energy coming to a snails pace as Mars is one of my ruling planets, and has been in my house of Career, Achievement, Fame & Honors since October. So it’s no coincidence, that I’ve been blogging and posting less.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Mars is less powerful, Mars is still very powerful in our lives, but not in our outward lives as we’re so accustomed to. Mars’ energy and power will now be driven inward…and that’s where we need to really take care of ourselves – emotionally and physically.

If you can imagine a pressure cooker and a roast inside of it, we could think of Mars in its normal energy state as being the focus and power of the actual cooker – having no relationship to the roast within it.  It just does it’s thing. Now that Mars is retrograde, think of Mars as no longer being the pressure cooker, but it is the roast inside that is being pressurized. Yes, that’s how Mars may turn it’s power during this retrograde period, which is lasting until March 10!

Mars also rules the blood and liver, and with it being in Leo which rules the heart and back, I’m sorry to say that I think that all of us might be more prone to illness or disease that act like a pressure cooker on these organs – heart, liver, circulation, and blood. I’m grateful, however, that Mars is taking a break during the winter, where we’re all more inclined to hibernate and be slow-moving.

On a side note, I honestly can’t help but to think about Brittany Murphy’s passing yesterday – the ay that Mars retrograded in Leo. (Leo symbolizes the sun, it governs pleasure and creativity – it is willful and enjoys the center of attention. Cities ruled by Leo include Rome and Hollywood.)  I caught a glance of a presumed natal chart of hers, and Mars is IN Leo in her birthchart. She is also a fellow Scorpio with either a moon or ascendant in Scorpio…and I can understand how the intensity of the planets and the super intense internal energies of Scorpio (also ruled by Mars) with Mars position could really wreak havoc on a delicate body if she were not in perfect health.

So, dear cleansers, I believe that during this time of Mars retrograde, it  is more about a time of cleansing the spirit, confronting those things that are brewing within and acknowledging them, talking with them, and letting them go.  It is a time to seriously modulate your stress levels, meditate, be with self in the silence, and remove yourself from working overtime or overstimulating environments. It really is a time to listen to who you really are and what you and spirit really need in any given moment.

On the flip side, it is a time of building and supporting your internal organs.  it’s interesting that I’m really inclined to focus more on cleansing the spirit/emotional you instead of the physical you during this time. And supporting your physical body. Given the internal strife that I believe Mars is going to bring us the next 6 weeks or so, now that we have an eclipse on the 31st and Mercury retrogrades on the 26th, if you must cleanse, go slow. Go gently. Wait until the end of January to pick up a more intense cleansing routine; and from now until then, give your body and spirit all of the support and tender loving care you can selfishly muster. That is what is being asked for this season.
