Did You Know? Winter is the season that kidney energizes – take care of them!
According to Chinese Medicine, Winter is the season that the kidneys and bladder energize – they are water elements. There is much activity going on deep within the core of your body that one doesn’t realize, just like the trees that stand bare at this time of the year, they are rooting deeper to replish and fortify their resources for the warmer seasons.
So, how do we support the kidneys? Well, we help them with alkalizing the body and maintaining a proper pH, that’s one role of the kidneys. The kidneys depend upon obscene hydration and an abundance of minerals and whole food vitamins. They function very well with a liquid-based diet and foods that are easy to digest, since the organs responsible for creating and activating enzymes are somewhat “dormant” this time of year. It’s easier on the entire system if we respect this balance.
